ok. did you ever see the advertisement for thoes caddies with the built in night vision HUD ? like, a camera was on the front bumper and it projected it's image on the windshield for safer night driving or whatever.
well. i was thinking.
say you pass a cop doing like 110 at night, and he comes after you. what would happen if all of a sudden. your car dissapeard? no headlight, no brake lights, nothing. just black.
mod the car. tie in all the exterior lights to a switch mounted inside your car, so when you hit it, all the lights go out. and when you hit the brakes, they don't light up. then, add a mounted nightvision camera to your windshiled so you can drive and not have to see.
a few turns in the dark, park the car somewhere. you'd be home free. they couldn't do ANYTHING. it's almost perfect. what could go wrong? sure they have spot lights, but a twisty road or a few quick turns would render that useless.
you could be 50ft infront of them at one point, then hit your switch, lights gone. slam on the brakes and pull off the road. they'd probably fly right past you and see you, start to turn around at which point your already halfway down another road. /pwnt.
and they won't know which one. ;-)

any of u guys ever seen the old school car movie cannonball run. there's a scene in it where jackie chan(very unknown young actor), is driving with his team in a little corola or some shit running on hydrogen, and they run the whole time without lights. anyway, this one scene they blow past this patroll car, cops are like "what the fuck was that", "i dunno but whatever it was it was goin 100+" u should check it out, good movie.
Jackie chan (who was called 'Jackie' in the film) was teamed up with 007 baddie Jaws and the car was a Mitsubishi. (I'm not sure if it was a Cordina or a GT)
Cannonball run is one of my favourite films of all time.

Jackie Chan/Jaws was driving a blacked out 87ish Misubishi Starion ESi 4WD Turbo(aka Chrysler Laser).
Night vision is a term used to amplify existing natural light (star or moon light) One operates by magnifying it. The personal nv-gear are this type which requires a small amount of ambient light to magnify. It won't work in total darkness but these units have a small infrared light for close objects (basically an infrared LED). The images appear fuzzy and illuminated green. "Flaring" is a term used in night vision when a light source hits a night vision device and causes the screen to whiteout, "blinding" its user. Night Vision also refers to thermal imaging. This only detects heat omitted from objects. The higher the temp, the brighter the object illumination.
The "night vision" employed in caddies are of the thermal variety. Its not truly night vision (doesn't illuminate the surroundings by light amplification), rather it detects heated objects in your path beyond the range of your headlights...namely people or animals on the road at night, possible other heat sources like vehicles, depending on sensory strength/sensitivity. The unit used by Cadillac is to supplement night driving as a safety feature....very limited use IMO.
As far as the vehicle being unseen, it would help to remove all reflective material on your vehicle (reflectors, license plates, chrome/shiny metal...no bling on rims!), and have a flat black paint scheme to match (like Robocop police vehicles). Your elusion route should have had no lights whatsoever so you won't silouette against the background as you drive by, and no dirt roads to kick up a dust trail. Then you also run the risk of the cop rear-ending you at pursuit speeds....or killing someone when they step/drive in front of you because you were not seen approaching.
My wife dont make me drive slower.... if anything... she just sits there and watches.... holds on tight... and doesnt say a word... she only tells me the speed limit when its obvious that I dont know... and I'm doing like 45 in a 25 or something... but not on the freeway or anything like that.... I guess I'm just lucky

THE COP LET ME OFF WITH A WARNING!!!!!
some of them must understand....
I saw a cop today going 90 on the freeway (65mph zone, I know his speed because I was pacing him ) and kept changing lanes, weaving in and out of traffic with absolutely no turn signals. If they're lights are off, aren't they supposted to follow all the road rules, like not speeding and lane change violations? Feh.

I was reading this.. and I have to say this:
A few years ago (2000 maybe).. I was visiting my mom in Michigan. She had clipped a report out of a local newspaper.. not sure which one.. but.. here is what I remember..
Some guy had taken a new Corvette.. removed all interior lights, and disabled all exterior lights, taken off all reflective material, and painted the car all BLACK. He was driving while wearing NightVision goggles. He was driving back and forth from Detroit to Chicago selling Coke.. normally about 4.5 hours if you are going 65-75 mph with traffic... he was doing it FAST.. late at night.. when there was minimal traffic... well.. there was a cop who had a speed trap, and was working a late shift with a radar.. and he would get a reading of 150+ .. and was like wtf??.. and he got it at around the same time, 3 nights in a row.. so.. on the third night, he called down the road to another cop, and had him lay out tire splitters.. the Vette hit em.. spun out, crashed.. and the dude got busted with a buch of drugs or money or both. Don't remember all the picky details.. but still.. I remember the basics. Pretty crazy..
Your post made me think of it. Somebody tried something similar, didn't work out to well.. but maybe you could improve on it. Let me know if you do. I wanna be a ninja too.

but you see. this guy was making runs down the same highway many times in the same week / month, and selling drugs. the cop got suspicious because he always got the same reading.
my idea is for thoes few times when your just out having fun and a cop wants to ruin it ie: ticket you for 60 or so over and revoke your lisence .. so instead of being screwed, you flip your switch and keep on going until your home free.
i didn't think about black paint. my car is silver. <.< .. hurm.
