Got my yearly oil and filter service today with 4600 miles still left on the service interval. However, the stealership forgot to reset the computer so that it shows a fresh 15000 miles. I've got 71000 miles on the car.
Is this something I can do myself? Is there a backdoor way like turn the radio to a certain station, turn on the left turn signal, tap the brakes 3 times, all while holding in the BC button?
Press and hold the left side trip button in the instrument cluster.
Turn the ignition to the first position (accessory).
Continue to hold the trip button until the indicator starts to flash, and it'll say "reset" or something to that effect.
Now, let go of the trip button, and press it once more, and it resets.

Good luck !

Thanks Z! That did it. Is this how the dealer would have done it, or is there something special they do that's more technical? Should I even call them to let them know about it?
how about 2000 e46 brake sensor wear light. Changed the brakes and sensor and need to make the light go out
Easy, turn the key on(do not start engine) and wait for the light to go off before starting the vehicle. It will take around 30 to 45 second before light reset itself.
