Yes you can do it by your own.
Procedure is simple and must be made fast.
1: put the key remote into the ingition and turn it into position two.
2: Remove the key and keep pressed the unlock button.
3: At the same time press the lock button three times.
4: You should see your key remote led blinking.
5: You should also hear after some seconds while initiating the doors locking and unlocking.
After you hear this, then you have your key remote programmed

What you are talking about here is only key initialization, NOT programming...it only sets the remote part of the key (not the mechanical key itself) to the vehicle for keyless entry/remote lock functions.
