How Can I Tell?

Now I was accelerating the other day and noticed that the RPM's when pretty high on my automatic, around 6500rpm. I don't remember what the orignal vs new limits are if it had been chipped, but how can I tell? I got the car used.

I'm sorry if this is a newbie post thingy. I tried the search... couldnt' find anything saying exactly what it would be if it had been chipped.

Did you have it floored to the kickdown if its an auto?

Yep, the needle trailed into the red zone (dashed area) and then shifted to the next gear.

Kick down is a mode where you depress the gas past a friction point at which it downshifts and gos up to 7000..Also was it in Auto, Sport, Tip?

I know what kickdown is, I use it all the time. I have the '99 model, I don't believe they had the steptronic then, my car is purely a base model.

So what I gather from what you said, hitting 7000 in a non-steptronic auto is suppose to happen when stock?
