| High Pitch Noise when opening and closing doors and trunk in 2011 BMW 328i I purchased the new vehicle last Saturday, and one of the criteria I was using among selecting between Lexus, BMW. etc. was lack of annoying noises, ESPECIALLY high pitch noises because they really bother my ears (have intermittent tinnitus that can be triggered by these frequencies). So I was delighted that the 2011 BMW 328i had a very pleasant chime when the door was open with the key on the ignition, or the seat belt was not fastened, and a pleasant chime for other indicators and warnings; i.e., if exceed a certain speed.
So I drive the car home and after parking in my garage and getting out of the car I hear this very high pitch noise in my garage. I am wondering where the heck it was coming from, so I check all the lights and other items in my garage, and then even see if it is coming from outside my house, only to figure out it is coming from my new BMW 328i! I subsequently find that the damn high pitch noise comes on for about a minute EVERY time I open or close a door or the trunk even though the car ignition is not turned on. This has NOTHING to do with the car shutting down or powering up. I called the general manager of the dealer and he told me the car should not be doing this and to bring it in for service.
However, I see some posts from prior years that say that all 328i vehicles make this noise when the doors are opened or closed. I certainly hope not. I may sell the vehicle if I can not resolve the issue because my ears can not handle that high pitch noise.
Others experience this and what resolution have you obtained? WTF could be causing this? NOBODY has an answer in prior forums - just guesses.
