HELP - resetting key central locking E46 328 msport

need help in resetting the central locking on my car please.

car was a fresh Japanese import and the key battery was flat when I purchased the car about a couple of months ago. I have just got around to getting replacement batteries and need help to reset the central locking.

tried the button pressing procedure outlined in a post I found and the remote still does not work.

not much support from the local BMW agents in Wellington NZ, wasn't very customer friendly when I visited today, suggested that I get the workshop to have a look.


what/where can I check to make sure things are as they should be ??

recheck the key battery, preferrably with a voltmeter... a lot of times, even when the battery is new, the voltage is too low for your key to operate properly.

and then the polarity. Any chance u installed it in reverse?

the batteries are brand new but will check.

the lights on the key does the flashing thing as it's supposed to, so install must be ok, the process is as it should be but nothing happens when I press lock/unlock buttons after the flashing stop.
