Help With My New 330ci

Hi, New guy here.

So, I just got this great 2001 330 convertible and while I love it, I found out that in the US, you can only CLOSE the top and windows with the key but NOT OPEN it. (you have to get in and use the button.)

Anyone know of a retro-fix for that or something I can buy? Any help is appreciated.

I believe opening the convertible roof from a distance is available as an option.
Whether in the US or not, the option is available.
Not sure what it would take to upgrade your car.
Does the key have 3 buttons built-in.
Usually the first button unlocks the doors with a click, and if you then hold that same button for an extended period of time the windows and sunroof open.
Not sure if its the same with the convertible top.
Any convertible owners have first hand experience.

I called the dealer. On us cars you can only Close Top with key in door. You can not do anything with the remote sadly. Im sure this is something to do with how lawsuit happy we are here. Im glad I can close it, but opening would be great too.

it is likely a software fix. they have euro software (for smg they do at least)and can reprogram. you need to find somoeone willing.

I have a 2005 330CI convet. Just the opposite is true. One press of the open button unlocks one door. Press a second time and the other door opens. (This can be changed by programming.). Hold the button down for a little longer and the top opens up. You cannot close the top with the key.

Dave, how is the wind noise in your 05? I tested a 04 convertible before deciding on a regular 330ci, the wind noise was a little too loud for my taste, don't know if it was a bad car or common.
