Dear BMW lovers,
My 4 year/50000 mile warranty is about to expire for a 2006 3 series. My 4 year old car has a low mileage, 26K miles. I called a Dallas dealer and they wanted $2800 for maintenance and $3200 for mechanic warranty to extend the warranty to 6 years and 100K miles. To me, this dealer is out of his mind

What would you think of taking a 2006 3 series to a regular mechanic to have its maintenance? Are there BMW certified mechanics outside BMW dealers? How much would an annual maintenance cost at a dealer? What are your suggestions regarding this maintenance situation
