Talking help with looking 4 a good used 330 ci 5 sp

Hey guys new to the BMW E46 world and this forum.
Iíve been doing lots of looking, driving and reading.
I havenít got my E 46 yet, but I have found one that I hope will fill the bill.

So what do I need to be on the look out for thatís not the obvious in a well used and maintained 2002 330 ci 5 sp car with 117000 miles on it?
Iíve read about the tail light wiring, window regulators, door seals, A/C control, ectÖwhat under/in/round the car that can go unnoticed without a careful eye.

Not worried about such as, suspension parts, clutch, brakes, or cooling system type stuff. I plan on changing most of that anyway.

I was on a site where I read something about a trailing arm (?) or something on the left rear that beats on the frame until itís damaged, they offered a repair kit to be welded in, (not talking about the rear upper shock mounts) and of course I canít find the site again to re-read it. They had some picture too, still somehow I managed not to mark the spot, and itís been too long to just go back and ck my history.

Also read something about the oil pump bolts coming loose on high mileage cars? But it mite of been on the V engine? I donít remember now.

Anyway Iíve found one that I really like, has maintenance records, and appears to be in really good shape. Havenít been under it yet though.

And what about de-coding the vin # to be sure it has the sport and premium package? I know it doesn't have the cold weather package.
How much is needed? Just the last 8?

I drove a '04 with 54,000 miles on it. It was truly a POS to the trained eye. Must of had a really hard life, or wasn't loved.

Thanks for any input in helping talk me into buying this car.
(I like it, and I want it, just talk me into it
)
