Help! Just bought new BMW 335 Convertible, Question with iDrive & Alarm Help!
I just bought a brand new BMW 335i Convertible with the new iDrive. This is a 2009 model with the new iDrive.
I found out on Tuesday that my 335 Convertible didn't have an alarm, so off to the local BMW dealer I went (southbay bmw in Torrance CA).
They quoted me $1000 for the genuine factory BMW alarm and said that the computer needed to be upgraded to take the new alarm. They also told me that it would take 24 hours to complete the job and they have now had my car since tuesday!!!
Does this make sense? They said they needed to acquire a "CCC" tool because my car had a really new iDrive. Then they had to get special codes from BMW to make everything work.
I am so worried that they might downgrade my iDrive to the older version to get the alarm to work. They told me they only move forward though. I still do not have my car back yet.
Now they're saying that I should have it back possibly tomorrow if the upgrade "takes." There is a good possibility that the upgrade may not work again.
Should I believe this from the dealer? I am worried they are downgrading the iDrive or something. Why does it take so long to just get the factory alarm to work?
Im frustrated, I want to be out enjoying my new BMW!! I haven't spent 12 hours with it yet.
Thanks for any input you can give, I really appreciate any piece of mind you can provide ;-)
