HELP! Groan on Initial Acceleration '99 BMW 323i

I am getting a groan/grinding sound from my front passeger side wheel when first accelerating, and normally happens the first time I accelerate at a stop after gunning onto the highway. So basically I gun onto the highway in the morning during rush hour, come to a stop at the next exit, and on that first acceleraion, I get the noise for 1 to 2 seconds. It may or may not happen again at the next stop and accelerate, but never normally continues after that untill the next time the whole thing happens again. has anyone had this problem, because I have had the car to the dealer in the past and since they could not duplicate it when it was there, then they could not diagnose the problem. Thanks in advance for any help!

Check your Universal Joints. I had this on a truck just recently, (not BMW, but similar description of the problem). As it turns out, the U-joint had actually sheared off a strap bolt. The vibration and groan did sound as thought it was coming from the front passenger wheel. I hope it helps.

control arm bushings or a strut. Check over the front suspension for wear. This may sound weird but your crank case vent valve may be on the fritz. These little things will make all sorts of funny noises at the weirdest times and can sound like they are coming from the front suspension. Just a thought.
