I have a misfire on cylinder six (6) and a ticking noise under the hood. Doesn't sound like rod noise. Ran a compression test and cyl. six (6) failed. It is only 90 psi while the other five are 190 psi. Ran a leak down test and it passed. Only 4% and only crankcase noise. No evidence of leaking valves. I can't figure out what would present these two symptoms at the same time.
Using a depth gauge and measuring TDC on several cylinders #6 is 8.23mm lower in the cylinder than the rest. Sooooo......It's got a bent rod or broken wrist pin on something that is leaving it lower in the cylinder and thus the lower compression with a good leak down test.
It's the worst news I could get. Now do I rebuild the motor or is there a good source for a short block?
