hello from new member + a question

hello I am a new member and look foward to being part of this forum, I am not very knowledgeable about cars in general. I have a 2002 BMW 325ci that I purchased brand new it now has 108,000 miles and I recently had a problem that is a bit puzzling. one morning I went to start my car and it did not start, it sounded like it was starting but did not turn over I tried several times throughout the day but no luck. I later had the car towed to my mechanic and when he tried to start it the car started right up, after keeping the car for several days and trying to find out what was wrong he did not find anything it kept starting. so I took the car back and no problems for three weeks. then it happened again. so again i towed it to the mechanic and once it came off the tow truck it started right up, but this time I had the mechanic change the fuel pump because he thought that was the only thing it could be, that was two weeks ago and so far so good but I was wondering do you guys think it could be something else and has anyone else had a similar problem ??? the fuel pump was the original one

Something else that may cause this type of problem is a bad battery. I have had the same type of symptoms when my battery was drained or low. Take the battery in somewhere to have it tested; some place like AutoZone if you are located in the States. Other than that I have no other ideas.
