Its discouraging to walk out to the garage and find the contents of your washer tank on the garage floor. My 2002 330CI decided to empty its washer tank via the headlight nozzle. My assumption is the pump that pressurizes the head light washer nozzles must have a stop valve integrated. The valve must open when the pump runs, and close when it stops. The pump sits well below the water level in the tank, and without some type of valve the water would simply drain out (much like my current problem). Since a new pump costs $71, thought I would ask the experts if replacing the pump was the right move.
