Unhappy

I have a 2001 330i (manual) Wonderful machine.
Recently,
however I've been noticing a grinding (grrrnd grrrnd grrrnd)
sound at low speeds.

Took it to the dealer - he said the tires
are fettering - whatever that is. I rebalanced the tires and
the noise is still there. Is it an allignment problem ?

If I take it to the dealer for allignment they are going to charge
me 800 bucks - what is the best non-bmw shop for allignment ?

thanks

check front tires for any contact with the plastic crap inside the fender well. occasionally the rembling noise also can be heard with unevenly worn tires, again mostly front (this tends to happen if you dialed more negative camber than stock).
