Gear Knob removal!

I'm trying to replace the Gear stick gater on my BMW Touring (manual, 52) can any one tell me how to take the knob off! i have tried twisting, pulling, putting it in gear and pulling again, but nothing is happening (and i'm not a weakling!!) - please help!!

Ok, on an auto its easy.on a manual it should be the same, put it in the neutral position and pull up, do not have you face over the knob or teeth will be lost,there maybe a small hex screw at the bottom,as you havent specified model im unable to advise further

Generally speaking, like marti5 said, put it in neutral and pull up hard. Better to tell us what model you drive.
