Funny spots (corrosion?) on side mirror?

I noticed the other day that my driver's side mirror has a few little spots around the rim of the mirror. These spots look like rusty water that has crept underneath the glass (or the tinting). Could this be a sign of oxidation, or water getting in behind the glass or what?

I hate little things like this. Does anyone know how to fix this?

lol its common, its moisture that has gotten between the glass and the film that gives that blue tint to the mirror glass.... you need a new glass lens or you can live with it untill it gets too much for you to handle (i lasted 3 months haha)

Doh! That's what I thought, but I hoped it was something I could fix. I am going to try to "seal" the edge that's leaking with some clear paint or something so it won't get worse. Heck, it's worth a shot, eh?

Anyone know how much one of these glass mirrors (just the tinted glass) costs and where to get it cheaper than the dealer?

not sure to be honest but the dealership they are a rippoff. check online bmw parts stores you might get one , or maybe even a used one.. as for sealing it? sure try it out , its worth a shot.

I'll keep checking, thanks. I would never steal one, but I have to admit the thought did cross my mind!

To remove this part, you just pry it out with a large, flat object, like a prybar or something? Or do you have to remove the colored portion on the front of the mirror?
