fuel pump or relay ?

Hi,

I had some problems with my fuel pump a couple of months ago.. so i replaced it with another one. and yesterday i was driving normally then the car started to struggle, then stopped.

it wont start ( same symptoms as if there was no fuel in the tank), so i rolled up my sleeves and took the back seat off , removed the fuel pump cover and took the it out of the tank .

the pump works 1 out of 10 times .. is it possible that the pump is broken or could it be the relay ?? i am not an expert , im a newbie and i didnt know about the relay till i read something about it somewhere on the net.

from what i read .. its located in the trunk on the passenger side somewhere near the battery ( i have 318 ci 2000 )..

could it be the relay ?? how do i check it ?
