My car stopped on my this morning. I stopped at a red light and rpm went down shaked a little bit and engine stopped running. I tried to start it a few times but it wouldnt start. Battery is OK. Took it to a mechanic and he opened the hood and checked this little metallic rod and said the fuel doesnt come out. He is suggesting my fuel pump has gone bad. He lifted the rear seat and checked something and he says fuel pump which is located under the rear seat needs change.
Do you think it sounds like a fuel pump problem? How much does a fuel pump cost? I checked on bavarian but cant find it. He says he would charge 120 for labor only. Please help.
120 for a fuel pump sounds like a deal if he knows what he is doing and does quality work. it defiantly sounds like a fuel pump to me. or it could be a clogged fuel filter. might have that changed first and see what happens. the metallic rod that he checked under the hood is the fuel rail. that supplies fuel to all the injectors. at the end there is a valve that is very similar to a valve for your tires, where you put air in, and if you push it down quickly and no fuel come out that can indiacate that the fuel pump is bad.
E46 have a fault with the fuel gauge senders, although the gauge says you have fuel it might have run out try putting some more fuel in there’re 2 sender one on either side and the right hand sender has the pump built in
