it'll be hard to diagnose your case online owing to the many moving parts(both metal and rubber) that comprise your suspension system.
You might start by checking the bolts & lock nuts on your strut tower. Inspect the rubber parts also for signs of cracking or wear. Try and distinguish the sound you hear... a dull sound would mean a rubber part going bad; whereas, a sharp sound would mean a metal part, touching another metal part. In the latter case, you should be able to spot "shiny" wear marks where the metals touch.
