Flat Battery

Hi all,

The problem is i've had a flat battery a few times over the past few months.
Had all the electrics checked,and theres nothing putting a drain on the battery.
But one thing i have noticed is the heaters are just doing what they want.By this i mean,i might have it set on the first setting then all of a sudden it will start blowing really hard,then go back down to where it was.Also when i switch off the ignition sometimes they will start up on their own.This would be enough to drain the battery ( i think )told an auto electrician all this and he said it would be the heater resister switch.
Is that right...............just thought i would check with you guys first.

I used to have flat battery problems because of a faulty after market amplifier which was switching on. It does sound strange that your heaters are doing things when the car is not running. I know for a fact neither of my E46's could use the heaters when off.

you erratic blower speeds is probablly the final stage blower resistor. they are a common problem with alsmot all BMW's that when they go bad the blower motor will take on a mind of it's own. i have never herd of a final stage blower resistor draining the battery but i guess anything is possible. how old is the battery?

The battery is 4yr old.....is the final stage blower the same part as this heater resister switch which i was told was the faulty part?
