i finally took my car in for the 60k inspection 2. ($530) they told me the bushings are torn and the thermostat housing is leaking coolant. those together, along with the alignment after the bushings are replaced would be around six hundy. ouch. has anyone changed their bushings themselves? it seems like i've seen a thread for this but it was a few months ago.
i got a 2003 325i for a loaner. it was kinda cool to see the suttle differences between it and my car. like namely the SUNROOF! damnit! it really made me realize how much i wish mine one. but the steptronic was what really impressed me. i'm a firm believer in the sporty car-stick combo, but the step tronic was actually pretty fun to drive. and damn it shifted smmmmmoooottthhhh.

control arm (aka thrust arm) bushings are better left to an experienced technician, preferably someone with BMW knowledge. They are a major pain in the butt to replace and can easily turn into a completel nightmare if not careful. Regardless, you'll need an alignment also.
