Factory Sound System

what is in the factory sound system for a 2003 325i? How many speakers and is there a subwoofer? I am interested in adding amps and subwoofers.

Basic factory sound system on E46 so called "bmw business" is made by "Bose" , higher level is made by "Harman-Kardon"

On 2000 and later models ,radio and cd player with 6 speakers,

Standard system is terrible, especially when you have a leather interior, it makes it sound tinny.... I upgraded all speakers, added a 4 channel and a 2 channel amp, and two 12" subs.... I'm happy now.

Someone on these forums linked to a website where you can find the exact factory speakers in your car. Sub and amp are a must. I put one 12" sub and a 400W 4-channel amp in mine, but have yet to replace the speakers. My speakers include (2) 1" tweeters just inside the side view mirrors, a component set in each front door consisting of (1) 5-1/4" woofer w/ a 1" tweeter, a 1" tweeter in each back door, and (2) 4-1/2" coax speakers in the rear deck.

Highly recommend the JL Audio Stealthboxes. Our trunks are small enough.
