Engine shut off while driving 2007 328i

Just as I was exiting the freeway after having driven at speeds of approx 90 mph, the vehicle wouldn't accelerate. The check engine light then illuminated. I put the vehicle in park and pressed the start button and it started with no problem. I pulled off and let it sit for approx 10 mins and continued driving for another 130 miles into the nearest town. The check engine light hasnt come back on, but I'm concerned that this may be a major issue. There were no previous issues. Anyone have any insight as to what the problem may be?

Welcome to Bimmerwerkz. If possible, take it to get the OBD Codes scanned. Since the CEL came on the computer would have stored the code that would have caused it. Finding out which code it threw will help you diagnose the issue.

Most auto parts stores have an OBD-II scanner and will do it for free. Or the dealership, but i cant say they wont try to charge you for it.

Thanks for your help. Just an Evap issue, replaced the gas cap and hoping this will fix the issue.

Could be a bent/clogged vent pipe?
