Well, sometimes when I push on the gas the car does not really respond. Last night, it would not go above 5mph. Also, this is my first RWD car and was wondering when switching gears is the back-end supposed to lift up?

No, the rear end will go down, sounds to me like the front brakes are jammed on if its lifting up or the parking brake is seized on, do you have any lights on the dash?, what revs are you at when doing 5mph and is it an auto shift?

It is an auto. Also, I do not remember what is was revving at and the e-brake was not on.

But, when this happens and I turn the car on and off the problem seems to disappear.

Your best bet would be to go and get a diagnostics done, this will either tell you whats wrong or it will pull up some codes , dependant on the machine used. Then come back with the codes or whats said then we can go from there.

marti, I am taking it in this monday to be diagnosed. Also, I am not driving it until then. But, I was testing something out in my driveway and the MPH gauge no longer works and the eml light was not on.
