3-Series (E46, E90)Chat relating to the BMW 3-Series from 1999 to Current. Models include: BMW 316i, BMW 318i, BMW 318Ci, BMW 320i, BMW 323i, BMW 325i, BMW 330i, BMW 328 Ci, BMW 328i, BMW 325i/xi, BMW 330Ci, BMW 320d, BMW 330d, BMW 335d.
I live in Ottawa where they use a lot of salt in the winter so rust corrosion is a major problem here. I just bought a 2004 325XI which happens to be a US car. It looks amazingly clean compared to my two year old Camry.
I have seen ads for the CounterAct Electronic Rust Protection System which uses elctron theory to inhibit rust. I don't know any one who has used it since we normally use anti-rust coating or oil spraying here in the north. I would like to keep the clean unsprayed look of my 325XI. I would like to hear from people who may have used this product.

I live in Newmarket. I drive a 02-325XI. I was considering the option you're looking as well. Two things chnaged my opinion.
1st - Most likely it affects your ground (negative pole) which can affect the performance of the computer. There's a number of stories you can find online that how important is proper grounding.
2nd - The coating shop that we (all family) go to, has removed a number of these devices from high end cars since they were not performing properly and rust was actually happening.
Anyone has heard other stories similar or otherwise please share them here.
Cheers ...

That's what my rust-proofing shop owner told me, I just assumed he had an ulterior motive in dissing these gadgets. I will try to do more research on this topic.
