E90 will be unveiled here in Vancouver (BC) Auto Show this coming 1 April 05. My salesman is trying to get me to buy a new car so maybe I'll get to test drive one in about two weeks. I'll take a camera and post pics and impressions.
Figures, I'm going to the NY show next weekend and was hoping to see it there. It wasn't listed on the show's website and your post seems to confirm it.

I believe the Vancouver show is the North American debut. For some reason, BMW favours Canada with more goodies than the States. For example, the one series is coming here soon, but not to the states. Rumour has it the one series is replacing the Mini as the hot new small car to get in Europe.
Mercedes, the dealer flogging the new small Smart cars, has brought in the Smart car to Canada but it hasn't made it to the States. Don't know why that is except Americans seem more enamoured with bigger motors than Canadians, and these products are smaller motored vehicles. The Smart car is a 600 cc diesel.

I dunno but the 1 series is not going to casue minis that many problems in the UK...the 1 series is way too expensive and FUGLY IMO...a fully speced 1 series can cost £30,000 about $45-50k WTF thats 330 price range.
Also the Smart is a complete POS...its hated by almost everyone here, i hear its a big money hole for merceded, even by UK standards the smart in damn slow

The E90 debut is in NYC. It has been all over the news. I am also going to see it there this weekend. Not sure why anyone thinks it isn't going to be there? used The CEO of BMW USA was on CNBC talking all about the car and said it was going to be shown in NYC.
My understanding with the Smart car is they did a bone head mistake. Mercedes is disributing them here in Canada, but the software doesn't (or didn't) plug into the Mercedes software. In other words, the software is proprietory and Mercedes machines couldn't read the Smart car's software.
The Smart car is proving popular with business's that deliver using cars, like auto parts shops, etc. They save lots of fuel. In a similiar vein, taxi drivers here in Vancouver are taking to the Toyota Prius (sp?) as a taxi cab, again to save on fuel costs.
