E46 Odometer concerns

Hi All,

I am beginning to question the odometer accuracy of my '02 325i. In September of last year I bought the car with 84,000 miles and already I am at 103, 000 and I have a second car. Yesterday while driving back from Canada I noticed that the speedometer was always 3 -4 mph faster than what is shown on my GPS. I really have no way of knowing how accurate the GPS speed measurement is but it did help to confirm my suspicion that my car is overmeasuring my speed therefore my distance travelled. I know that there was a problem with Nissan and a couple of other car companies a few years ago but it turned out that they did it on purpose to take advantage of lease customers.

Any one has similar concerns.

The dashboard speedos of virtually all cars tend to read high. I don't believe this affects the odometer's accuracy. If you'd like to search the forums for "speedometer", there's another thread on the subject.
