E46 coupe vs sedan handling

I've had a lot of time behind the wheel of the 330i sedan. Both the e90 and e46. Couldn't seem to grasp the fact that many people said the coupe variant didn't handle any better. Why BMW would do that...I don't know. Atleast make the steering tighter! Anyways I spent a few hours driving the 330ci around and the conclusion is: they handle the same.

Filmed a short video outlining my thoughts on the coupe.

Cheers!

The Sedan handles better because it has more reinforcement in the roof which stiffens it up. Especially models with sunroofs. Thats why a lot of BMW race cars are sedans.

Interesting, hadn't heard that before. Didn't seem to make a noticeable difference (at least to me).

I have a few friends that race BMW's, and they have all said the Sedan's are better for track cars. Its quite common to see people pull the sunroof cassette out and replace it with a CF or plastic replacement becuase it adds un-needed wieght.

Most track cars are further reinforced anyway, but every little bit helps when trying to keep the car as stable as possible. If you look at the Turner Motorsports cars and the Bimmerworld track cars they are Sedans.

I have a Sedan (E36) im parting out. I will take a picture of the roof structure for you.
