Firstly let me take the time to introduce myself to you guys here.
My name is Brett, I live in the UK in the West Midlands and I currently have a 1998 Peugeot 306 1.9 TD Vivant
I love this car it is my first car.
But time has come to change cars now I have some driving experience and No claims under my belt.
So I was thinking a E46 BMW 330d would fit the bill nicely as I do a fair amount of miles a year and they have good performance, economy and they drive and look really nice. and yes unfortunately I have a fetish for diesels
and also they have come down to some reasonable money now so scrubs like me can drive them
Problem is that I have heard some scary stories about turbo's going "pop" so to speak and problems with the butterfly's in the intake manifold destroying pistons.
I always thought is was just the 20d engine's that suffered with problem's like this but obviously I was wrong.
Am I right to be concerned and steer clear of them?
Or is it a worth while long term buy?
Anything to look out for in particular when going to view a car?
Thank you for your time to read this and I look forward to your comments
