E46 328 ci se braking problem - help please?

I know its a common thing for the abs light and traction control light to come on the dash however on my car (99 model) when braking it feels like abs is kicking in even when its dry on the road as the pedal judders and bounces back and you can hear what sounds to be a pump working somewhere on the car, then other times you drive and brake and it appears to be normal? is this a common fault or someone know what the problem is? either the sensors need cleaning/replacing?

First you should take your wheels off and physically check the rotors for any signs of warping and check the pads for uneven wear. When was the last time you flushed the brake fluid? If your Abs light is on go to an indy mech and see if there are any codes. Start with that, then check back.

thanks for that, i've not actually changed it myself so will give that a go and see how it goes from there as im unsure when it was last done.
