E46 325i Auto cutting out when warm!

Hi

Recently bought a 2001 325i Automatic and it keeps cutting out when warm (ie been driving for 45 minutes or more). When its running its fine but when you come to a stop or turn a corner it normally idles ok but when you hit the gas it chokes and the engine dies. Sometimes it restarts straight away but others it turns for ages before starting. When it takes ages to start it feels really underpowered like theres a cylinder down or something.

Its been in the garage and had the lambda sensor and an air-flow sensor replaced. Garage reckoned it was sending wrong temperature signals to the ecu and adjusting the idle incorrectly but I am not convinced.

Anybody had anything similar??

Had the same issue with a 2002 325xiT. They replaced an O2 sensor and the airflow sensor and everything worked fine. Don't sweat it too much - stuff like this happens from time to time, although I'm surprised your Check Engine Light didn't come on - you might ask them about that!
