e46 316ti se 2004 - brake problem?

can anyone advise me? whilst dring at about 70-80 my steering wheel starts to shake and shudder, and when i brake from speed it also vibrates and shudders! it is ok when doing around 30-40. and it doesnt happen every time. also when i get in car for first drive of day when i first apply brakes i get a grinding noise?

any help?

I may be wrong, but that sounds like 2 different things

the 'shake and shudder' sounds like worn steering/suspension parts rather than brakes, braking from speed then just amplifies the problem
there are so many components within the steering/suspension, it will need a thorough check for worn or damaged parts

check the condition of the discs & pads for the grinding

Thanks mate, had it looked at other day, was a siezed calliper and warped discs. fixed now at a cost of £450!
