E46 2005 P0710 any idea where the sensor is?

Hello, as in the tittle i am trying to find a picture or perhaps a diagram of the transmission temperature sensor.

I am helping a friend who has an 05' E46 with an auto trans., when we scan it comes up with 5 codes 3 are for emissions (P0442 & others, cant remember) and 2 are P0700 & P0710.

I am not to concerned with the emission codes as i have a pretty good idea of where to check, but i am really trying to figure out if i really want to remove the transmission pan and try to find and replace the sensor.

The car has about 172K miles and the owner has some mild shifting problems. She also doesn't remember ever changing the trans. fluid.

any help would be appreciated thanks

Not sure what model/engine you had so i assumed it was an M54. This diagram is based on that. The temperature sensor is #10 in this diagram:

Thanks lord vador, yeah i am not to sure about the engine model, but thanks for posting that diagram it should help quite a bit.

Also i don't know if you remember but i asked about the value of an e30 and you responded (this was a while ago) any ways it turned out to be just a 325 with an e motor and not a 325i, i ended up buying it is a fun little car.

I assumed the E46 was a friends car.
