E46 2000 "tappety engine" what do i do

When I listen to my engine it seems to be a bit tappety.

Why is this?
what can I do?

SpenderE46. I was wondering what oil you used. In your previous post
on what oil to use, I forgot to ask you what oil you were using. Also, what
is the mileage of your car and how many miles on your current oil? These
factor all in when an engine makes some sort of tapping or ticking noise.
Some engines are prone to this all the time. Does this happen when cold?
I don't think it's anything to worry about unless it's very loud. Bring it in
a BMW shop and have them look at it.

I have only own the car for about a month, its needs a oil change in 9k, not sure of the oil in it, but I may do an oil change????????? Its not very loud but when I life up the bonnet u can hear it like, tick,tick,tick,tick, really fast?????
