Angry Drivers side lock/latch not releasing

Before anybody jumps on my case about this being dealt with in zillions of other threads, bear with me and you will see that it is not.

2006 325i, drivers door will not unlock. Wait...

It is not fuse #56 or fuse #57, both are fine. The actuators work, merrily clicking up and down in all doors. Lock post on drivers door simply doesn't move. Center unlock button, fob and safety key do not unlock the drivers door. Inside handle and outside handle do not open door. The door will not open.

I have been able to get inside the door, partially removing the trim panel and vapor barrior. This was not easy or fun (fortunately I haven't broken anything either) but now I am stumped. I can get my fingers on the latch assembly but I have no idea how to get it to release. I cannot remove the latch because the door can't open and two of the screws come in from the side and I can't get to that.

Frustrated and frankly pretty upset that BMW would build something that would trap a user inside like this without a failsafe or manual override. I understand that the actuator has two locking positions, one of which allows the inside door handle to open the latch and one that prohibits anything from operating the latch mechanism. Guessing this is the cause in some way. Can I get past this manually?

Before I put things back together and head for the dealership, asking for any help or guidance.

Thanks everyone.

Talking

Update! I was poking around inside the door around the latch, feeling for loose rods, wires or whatever and heard a tiny whirr sound. Tried the handle and the door opened. I'm going to order a new actuator and break the whole down again next weekend. I'm not going to lock it until I can replace the actuator, but for now its back together and my beauty is drivable.

Lessons learned: you CAN remove the door panel with the door closed, but its not pretty and you need to be verrrry careful (I need to replace some of the plastic fastners as they didn't like the procedure), sometimes it works to just get in there and start grabbing some rods! Yes, even on a BMW.

Cheers

Told you !! Hahaha
Is it a four-door? If yes then swap the actuator with a rear one !
You could even swap it for the drivers door one but it would mean you'd have to use the key !!!
Just a thought...
