Ok, I know somewhere on this site there's a link or post for DIY installs on e46's, but after 10 or so searches I have still yet to find it. If anyone knows where I can find a DIY for a headunit install on a e46, could you please let me know. I'm planning on buying an Alpine 9855 reciever to replace my stock reciever and I'm hoping to install it myself.
Unfortunately that site has everything but a DIY on headunit installs. But it did provide some good info on some other things i was wondering. I might end up just taking it to Sound Advice because some people were saying it's tricky going for a stock unit with the HK upgrade to an aftermarket radio. Thanks though.
it's really easy. all you have to do is pop the trim above the radio off. Use something thin, like a knife, wrap it in tape or something so you don't scratch anything. there are just two screws holding it in, just take them off and slide it out. probably the easiest car to take a stereo out of.
