Hey, i am not sure as to where i should post this question, so you may move this to the appropriate forum....however.....
I was wondering, What method does BMW use to measure its power outputs for its engines? ECE or DIN or STP?
An in-depth information on this, can be found on this website
here
The way i understood it was, that:
the ECE method, power output is measured in 99 kPa of dry air and 25°C (77 F).
DIN is measured in 101.3 kPa of dry air in 20°C (68 F), and;
STP is measured in 103.3 kPa of dry air and 15.5°C (60F).
Therefore, in my understanding, a power output measured in ECE, would be greater if measured in DIN, and even greater power figure if quoted in STP.
The reason being, for my assumption, is because, where there is lower air pressure and higher temperature, an engine would produce less power, than an area where there is higher air pressure and lower temp (cold air).
example: the figure 231hp (or 225hp) for the 330i, is that meaured in ECE, DIN or STP?
anyone could help here?
