Dash display upon engine start

I have a 2001 E46 318iCE Coupe.

Upon turning the key to the half way position the usual lights all display on the dash. Then upon starting the engine the small amber engine management light is on on the bottom left and the red oil light at the top middle. These then turn off about 2 seconds after ignition.

They do not ever come on again, but i am concerned that the oil light being on at this point may be indicative of something ? levels are all fine and it's probably normal, but i've not really noticed before.

Same thing happens in my car too. Seems to be normal operation.
