i have a '99 E46. i did a search of the forum and the closest i could find to my problem had to do with the a/c belt tensioner and worn out brake pads. i have since replaced my pads and rotors as well as changed my a/c belt and had the tensioner checked.
the cricket sound occurs even with the a/c turned off and the car in idle or at speed. i've also ruled out wind noise and speaker problems. any suggestions what else it might be?
I also have the same problem. I noticed that this noise comes from somwhere near the windshield and dash. Sounds much like a cricket and seems like it's caused by two parts rubbing together (windshield and plastic defrost vent?). Any suggestions??? Thanks.
I too have heard this noise coming from my car (the day I bought it) after I had driven around for a few hours. It has only happened that one time, but I would love to know what noise that was. I turned off the AC, fans, and radio as well.
