Cracked Rear Subframe...00 323ci

I have a 2000 323ci rear end is making noise, took it to the shop and was told that the frame was cracked and needs to be welded...anyone familiar with this problem?

Oh yeah..it happened to my 2000 323i. BMW wouldnt touch the car because they dont have a weld shop. I found a shop to do it and quoted me over $4000. I didnt find the need to put that much money into the car because I was getting a new one anyway, so I sold it. The guy who bought it from is fixing it himself. He has dropped the subrame down, drilled some holes and is getting ready to weld some steel plates where the subframe mounts. Heres a website where you can get the repair kit from...hope it helps!
