CPO or not? Need reco's on year and model

I'm looking at a 3 series for a daily driver. while the diesel 3 series would be nice, not sure I can foot the bill. I am looking only at a used model. Is there anything to stay away from. I do have a 4wheel drive that I can use in the winter if needed, so unless there is a reason , ie. resale to get an awd, I can opt for the rwd. Can some experts weigh in on the best 3 series to go with?

Newer diesels are just as quick these days !
TBH, not a fan of diesels, but as a daily, this is your best option !
