Convertible Rear Seat Removal

Hi, I have an intermittant electrical problem with my electrical folding roof. When I press the one-touch button (either up or down) sometimes it works perfectly and other times, it begins to operate then just stops. Turning off the ignition then turning back on again allows the roof operation to complete its cycle. I've taken it in the BMW (but at £112 per hour just for investigative diagnostic checking is too much) they told me there seems to be a fault somewhere around the Convertible soft top control unit and/or wiring. A full diagnostic check could take up to 3 hrs!!

To get to the control unit, apparently the rear seats have to be removed. Can anyone help with either or both:
  1. The intermittant fault problem
  2. How to remove the rear seat
