convertible auto-drop

Bought my first Beemer the other day. A 2001 325CI convertible. The manual says if I hold down button 1 on the key, it'll unlock all the doors, and drop the windows AND the top. I can't get this feature to work....

I can drop everything by inserting the key in the door and holding it in the open position....but I'd really like to drop everything while walking toward the car using the remote key.

Any ideas or comments? I have the fully automatic top, so I dunno if that makes a difference or not.

I LOVE my car....I think I'm a Beemer-for-life person now!!! :P

Not true. The coupes and Sedans will drop the windows and open the sunroof, but cabrios do not have this feature. There are a couple of third parties that sell a device that will integrate into the system and do this, but I don't know if they have one for your year.

Thanks! I'll look into those eOpen units and the like. A bit pricey, but the convenience would be nice!!


The more I find out about this car, the better I like it!!! Not bad for an eBay purchase. :lol:
