Control Arms

I have a 2001 325i sedan with 55k miles. When I go over bumps I hear noise in the front end. In kinda of sounds like worn out bushings. Would this be indicative of worn out control arms? If so why are they wearing out with such low mileage?

Mostly just the bushings. The only part of the control arm that fails is the ball joint.

They can last anywhere from 60k-100k miles.
