Considering To Buy A 2002 325it Wagon

I am considering to buy a 2002 325IT wagon but I am concerned about maintenance cost over the next 100,000 miles or so. Right now the used car in question has only 20,000 miles on it. What are some of the milages out there on peoples' 325's and what problems have you experienced? Maintenance $$? Service bulletins? Problems with factory claims? There is only about a year left on the factory warranty of the car in question. What can I expect as a yearly service budget for the three years following the expiration of the factory warranty?

BTW I have a 1999 VW Passat wagon that I like, and may keep.

I just traded in my 2002 325xi wagon yesterday for a 2005 Z4. No problems with the car at all - it ran fine. Put 49,000 miles on it without a glitch - actually it's been the most reliable BMW that I've had (among a 325i, 325xi, 325xiT, and X5). You'll probably be able to negotiate a lot b/c it's harder for dealers to sell wagons - so keep that in mind. I think I got $22k for my trade in when Edmunds showed TMV at $25k, and the dealer originally offered $17k.

Anyway, go for it. Gas mileage was around 28 average, with up to around 32 on the interstate.

what's wrong with the wagons? we recently received our 2005 titanium silver 325xit sports wagon - built from the ground up - and we couldn't be happier. fully loaded, all the bells and whistles, looks great, rides great - it's a beauty. i'd sleep in it if i could.

I agree. I've had my 04 xit for 5 months and still look for reasons to take a drive. I've had no problems at all and I think it's a great package. None of the sites list any problems for that year wagon. Buy it-- you won't be sorry.
