| The 2002 320i came with a standard electronic climate control module. Even though it has the three adjustment knobs on the front, the electronic connections at the back are the same as the ones on the Automatic Climate control unit.
I bought a automatic climate control unit, installed it, and everything worked except for the floor vent setting. 2 months later BMW had to swap the manual unit because the defrost button didn't work; and while in the shop the new manual unit had some functions that didn't work at first either (until reprogrammed).
Now I asked about having BMW reprogram the system to accept my automatic unit and BMW claims that it might not be compatible to be upgraded!
Has anyone ever tried to convert the manual unit to an automatic one?
I wonder if I should try another tech at another BMW dealer?
