Ok, I'm having mixed thoughts on this forum. I haven't really gotten any feedback on my last post "New Convert", but anyway. I'm looking to clear out the tailights, side markers and front as well (all 6). I've found some expensive stuff, and I've found some not-so-expensive stuff. Prices range from 400 something for BMW parts to 50 bucks on some sites. What's the difference here? Some people are selling tailights on ebay for 80, is it the same quality? I know there will be purists out there who will say "only BMW parts" but my wallet hurts. Any thoughts?

hi soul no need to have mixed feelings not everyone may have the answers to everything, but as long as other members can contribute answers along with questions everything should work out fine. as for your question at hand the old saying comes to mind "you get what you pay for" with bmw stuff. usually with lights and whatnot OEM (bmws stuff) is the best to have. aftermarket are usually not made as well and i hear countless times about people having them fog up and leak all the time. personally id go wiht BMW's stuff, you can see the difference between the good and bad from a good distance.
ebay is kinda the same boat as aftermarket , shabby quality and overall not a fit and finish look , not to mention they may not fit proper.
i know the wallet hurts im in the same situation all the time. i suggest to get another piggy bank and save a little more. then talk to our sponsor he is more than likely able to beat the dealerships prices.
i've had mixed results with the aftermarket clears... i was a bit tipsy one night playing around on ebay and picked up the front corners, the sides, and the rears. the rears were seventy five dollars after shipping and really fit great and look badass. they were from a private seller so i'm not sure where he got them from or what he originally paid. the sides were from a seller called impression168 and were twentyone dollars shipped. they also were excellent. fit perfect and look great.( though i still need to find some diff bulbs for those.) the front corners however were not quite what i'd hoped for. the old one slid right out, i thought i was golden... no. trash. junk. cheap garbage. the new one broke upon insertion and left a chunk of plastic to roll around in the undercarriage beneath the headlight. they were thirty five shipped. needless to say i've got a different pair on the way so ill let you know how they turn out.
hope this was helpful.
btw make sure to at least get the silver glass amber bulbs. the orange looked like ass. the new silvers look much better.
I guess a little more research should pay off in the long run. Just as a side note, Furious, the only I was expecting a reply is because it was basically a "hey, i just got one, what's up" post, nothing to technical. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
