Check your gas cap. Make sure it is tight.

Have the codes read an an Autozone. SOmething must be wrong that actually matters in order for your fuel efficiency to have gone down so much. I don't want to speculate without first having teh codes, but it may just be an oxygen sensor, although it feels like your car is new enough that it should not need one yet. Then again, I wouldn't have expected your alternator to crap out this soon either.

Good luck.

My intake camshaft sensor crapped out around 65,000 miles. I saw a HUGE drop in fuel economy from that. Aside from the codes, any other symptoms?

My symptoms were sporadic, but included: bad fuel economy; stalling engine; engine vibrations; lost horsepower. Good luck on the diagnosis. Maybe it's something as simple as an A/F imbalance.

if the signal stops reporting to the ecu that something is bad after a few start ups then the light will go off... maybe u just had some bad gas?

Yup, mine did the same thing for about 3 weeks. Then it all went to hell in a hand basket.
