bmw (and also audi) choose a very good color for their interior lighting (amber/red). Since the color red or orange have long wavelengths, it is more easily seen and gentle to the eyes. VW on the other hand have blue. Blue is a very short wavelength; this results in eye strain and irritation. Green lights are in many japanese cars and for a reason; green is in the middle of the spectrum.
kudos to bmw and audi for choosing the right color

yeah i like blue the most. but as far as changing them you might have to change your gages or atleast the clear colored plastic behind it. at leat thats how all of the cars that i have had the dash apart have hadd it. you would have to buy a new platistic backing then too.
In my region (Hong Kong), we can find much different configuration. Cool blue, white, mulitple color. I believed those dash broads are made in Taiwan. I am not sure if you can find one dealer in your country. If you want the details, I can help you to get it..
i really wanna change the orange in the car.... its just irritating i guess... i mean, people do say that orange is really good, but i think its all about opinions... i dunno i really like the red and blue setup in the jetta.... i like it because its reasonably good for the driver to read the gauges however the passenger and other drivers lookin in your car cannot see.... but does anyone know how to change the colour of the dash board..... as in the steps? and what colour bulbs are required?
